PRESIDENTS LETTER:

 

Don't forget, Monday is a Teacher Development day, so there isn't school.  The 8th Grade Social is coming up on Friday, March 22nd.

The Kiwanis is hosting a wine tasting event (see article), where proceeds benefit the Middle School.

As a reminder, here are some important upcoming Budget dates, to put in your calendar:

  • On March 26th, the public will get to voice their opinions at the BOF Public Hearing on all 2019-2020 Budgets (school & town), at 8 pm in the WMS Library
  • On April 2nd, the BOF will be deliberating all 2019-2020 Budgets (school & town), at 7:30 pm at Town Hall
  • April 24th, is the Annual Town Budget Meeting (ATBM), at 8:00 pm in the WHS Auditorium
  • May 4th, is the Proposed Referendum

DISTRICT WEBSITE MANAGER:

The Weston PTOs are seeking a DISTRICT WEBSITE MANAGER, see position description below. The candidate would need to begin in Summer 2019 to leave time for training before the 2019-2020 school year begins in August. Please contact Marlo Villepigue,  , or Katia Colaprico,  , if you have questions or to apply. 

The District Website Manager shall act as liaison between the WHS PTO and the other Weston PTOs and the web host site technical group for the district Website, ensure data integrity and data privacy for the PTO members on the district Website, work with the Membership and Directory Chairpersons, and initiate a yearly renewal of the web domain name and yearly renewal of the web host site technical group subject to the approval of the PTO membership.


MEMORIAL DAY 5K REGISTRATION:

Weston Memorial Day 5K registration is open! The WHS PTO Weston Road Race, Walk and Kids Fun Run will be held on Saturday, May 25th. As the largest fundraiser for WHS, please consider supporting the race by being a Corporate and/or Family sponsor and get your name on the this year’s very cool race shirt. New this year, your name will be on your race bib when you register before April 23rd. To learn more about the race and register, go to weston5k.com and get news and updates on Facebook. You can run it, you can walk it, just don’t skip it!  


WEF GRANTS:

The Weston Education Foundation (WEF) is calling for applications for their Community Education Grants Program. 

The purpose of these grants is to provide funds (generally up to $1,500) to Weston-based organizations or individuals to develop educational programs that benefit their constituents and/or Weston residents. Preference is given to organizations that can demonstrate sustainable funding for their project after the completion of the WEF grant.

PEO SCHOLARSHIP:

Weston’s Chapter P of P.E.O. (a philanthropic and educational organization for women)   is pleased to announce a $2,500 scholarship is available to college-bound women who reside in Weston, Easton or Redding.  Click HERE for information


NAMI:

Frustrated by your child's challenging behavior? Do you ever feel like your child is harder to parent than other children? Do you worry about how your child’s behavior effects the family? Do you think your child or family needs a therapist, but you don't know where to start? Ever wonder how others manage in similar situations? Are you married, but feel alone in parenting your challenging child?

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Child and Adolescent Network (CAN) Support Group is for parents of children with behavioral, emotional and mental health issues. These groups are free, confidential, safe and led by trained and certified volunteer facilitators who themselves have had personal experiences raising children with these concerns.

The Wilton based support group meets on the 4th Monday of every month and the next meeting is Monday, March 25th from 10am-11:30am in the G & B Cultural Center, 49 New Street in Wilton. For more info, Beth at 203-984-0123 or  or Vanessa 203 970-4130 or 


KIWANIS FUNDRAISER:

Join us at our annual fundraising wine tasting event on April 27th, Aspetuck Country Club.  Featuring a wine tasting, buffet dinner, silent and live auction.

Proceeds of the event will directly support the "Dylan's Wings of Change" organization (dylanswingsofchange.org) by funding their "Wingman" program for Weston Middle School and will also support other local charities through the Weston Kiwanis Foundation. 

 

WESTON WOMENS LEAGUE:

Tickets are now available for the spring fundraiser, Karaoke for a Cause, benefitting Urban Impact:  Saturday, March 23 from 8pm-12am
